Next Monday, April 18th, many tens of thousands of runners will take to the streets of Massachusetts to run one of the nation's most prestigious races: The Boston Marathon. This 26.2 mile course begins in Hopkinton and ends in Boston's Copley Square. However, later on this year on November 6, many tens of thousands of runners will also take to the streets of New York to run another prestigious and very renowned race known as the New York City Marathon. The NYC Marathon starts on Staten Island and travels through all five boroughs until the racers cross the finish line in Central Park of Manhattan. This arduous competition is 26.2 miles in length too. For years, I've been watching the telecasting of the Boston Marathon, but it was not until last year that I sat down and glued my eyes to the television screen to see runners complete the New York version: To my dismay, I wish I had watched this New York race a long time ago, because I enjoyed it as much as the Boston one! For now on, I'm putting both races on my television schedule!
