Here's something interesting to think about. In Revelation chapter 21, the apostle John mentioned that after the end of the Millennium and the Great White Throne Judgment that he saw a new heaven and a new earth. Nonetheless, there is no indication in the bible of how much time elapses between chapters 20 and 21. This is a crucial point, because it could mean something drastically different from what we originally had in mind. How, you might be wondering? Well, if God created the earth in 7 days and those 7 days lasted some 7,000 years, then those who have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior could be waiting some 7,000 years before they can live on the new earth. Furthermore, if, according to scientific methods, those 7 days are actually symbolic of 4.7 billion years for the creation of the earth and 13.7 billion to 14 billion years for the creation of the entire universe, then believers could be waiting 4.7 billion years for God to renovate the earth and 13.7 billion years to 14 billion years' time for the refurbishing of the entire universe. If this really is the case, then it looks like Christians will be residing in heaven for a much longer time than previously expected. However, God could do something completely different from what He had done the first time around: He could recreate everything instantly! Hey, why not? He is God and not a finite being like we are.
