Despite DVR being greatly on demand in the year 2013, many people prefer to burn their recordings to DVD discs instead. Nonetheless, when the user goes back to view the recordings, the image quality is so blurry one would think they were watching an eyeblinding snow storm with powerful winds and high snow drifts shifting back and forth. Therefore, I think it's time for a makeover. These types of recorders should be accessible to consumers in the very near future; possibly even by Christmas 2014.
.) DVD-to-HD-DVD Recorder/DVD-to-Blu-Ray Recorder. A mighty contraption indeed. This HD DVD recorder would not only convert stuff from regular DVD disc over to another disc; but also greatly improve the quality of the images; so that they look crisp, clean, and quite sharp; including the contrast between similar colors.
.) Blu-Ray Recorder. For years, blu-ray players have been used for watching movies. Now, it's time to allow users the capability to record high-quality video on high quality blu-ray disc.
.) Blu-Ray-to-Blu-Ray Recorder. This type of device obviously will be needed when the time comes anyway; so manufacturers should start thinking about producing them now for purchasers.
.) Holographic Disc Recorder. Unlike DVD recorders and Blu-Ray recorders that record data only on the outer surface of the disc. This kind of recorder would record data on every single layer of the disc. Therefore, instead of saving only 4.7 gigabits to 26 gigabits of info onto a disc, the user could store up to several terabits of data. Hence, whole entire volumes or series of video could go onto just one disc. With such high-density discs, users won't have to worry about storage space constraints.
